Adult Day Centers

The Visiting Nurse Association operates three Adult Day Centers, offering four adult day-time programs . The Centers serve the needs of physically or cognitively impaired adults, whether by stroke, Alzheimer's disease, or other conditions associated with aging. Each program provides therapeutic activities for the participants and an opportunity for important respite time for their caregivers. Besides activities designed especially for their abilities, participants interact with staff and enjoy visits from community volunteers.

Transportation to and from each center may be available through the MST/RIDES program. Fees may be based on the client's ability to pay. The day's activities always include a snack and nutritious lunch.

SEASIDE ADULT DAY CENTER- Seaside

Two programs operate at VNA's Seaside Adult Day Center, located at 200 Coe Avenue on the former Fort Ord military base, by alternating days of service.  Both programs are joint efforts between the Monterey Peninsula School District and the Visiting Nurse Association.  The monthly fee is on a sliding scale.  Transportation is available through RIDES on a space-available basis and participants have the option of ordering a hot, nutritious lunch from Meals on Wheels.  Both programs are open year round except for school holidays.  These programs provide therapeutic activities for the participants in safe, supportive, and caring environments, and are designed especially for their unique abilities.  The programs also provide vital benefits for their caregivers, who can have peace of mind knowing their loved one is in competent, loving hands while they go to work, do errands, or simply use the time to refresh their spirits.

Stroke, Handicapped Adult Rehabilitation and Education (SHARE) - Seaside

Clients in the SHARE program are physically challenged due to stroke, Parkinson's, osteoarthritis or other neuromuscular condition. Services include an individualized rehabilitation plan incorporating occupational therapy, physical therapy, speech therapy and a positive, caring environment. Sliding fee scale is available.  The program operates Tuesday and Thursday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Alzheimer's Day Care Resource Center (ADCRC) - Seaside

The Alzheimer's program operates in the same Center on Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.  This program is for persons with Alzheimer's disease, other dementia, or frailty due to conditions of aging.  It provides mental and cognitive stimulation, light physical exercise, and socialization through the use of such activities as crafts, games, and music in a safe, fun, caring environment in order to prevent premature institutionalization of mentally impaired older adults, to improve the quality of life of both participant and caregiver, and to provide respite, education, support and referral information to the caregivers.
