SCREENINGS:
CHOLESTEROL SCREENING |
 |
|
|
Heart disease is the silent
killer. The VNA encourages you to “know your numbers”.
Determine your risk of heart disease by having a
cholesterol screening and find our how your
numbers compare to the norm. Cholesterol screenings also
include blood glucose reading to detect diabetes.
Appointments are made in the morning to encourage
fasting for twelve hours before the test is performed.
Diabetes, high cholesterol, high blood pressure and
obesity can all lead to an increased occurrence of
coronary artery disease. You may be at increased risk if
there is a family history of premature coronary heart
disease (before age 55 for men and age 65 for women), if
your cholesterol is greater than 200, if your blood
pressure is elevated, or if you have high blood glucose
(diabetes).
VNA can provide a painless, fast and easy test... you'll
get results right on the spot, in five minutes. It may
be the best money you've spent... for your life! The VNA
nurse will carefully examine test results to determine
your risk for coronary heart disease.
Walk-in clinics to test cholesterol and blood sugar are
scheduled periodically, and will be announced on this
site, in the public news media, and on the VNA
Immunization Information line at 831-648-3777.
Individual appointments also can be arranged.
