Influenza is a communicable disease that can have a devastating affect to businesses, schools, and our communities. On average, seasonal Flu causes 36,000 deaths each year, and 226,000 are hospitalized as a result of Influenza. The total economic burden yearly amounts to $10 billion dollars, 90% of which is due to lost work. Annual vaccination is the first line of defense against Influenza.

It is recommended by the Centers for Disease Control that everyone age six months and older should receive the flu vaccine annually.

Central Coast VNA is pre-booking on-site immunization clinics for the 2011-2012 season.  Studies show that vaccination of healthy adults has resulted in decreased work absenteeism and increased productivity.  Remember: the decision to immunize goes beyond your work place and helps to protect our community from the serious effects of influenza.
