STEVEN A. JOHNSON - President/CEO

Steven A. Johnson has been President and CEO of Central Coast VNA & Hospice (VNA) since October 2008.  Central Coast VNA & Hospice is the region’s oldest and largest home healthcare agency, making over 75,000 annual home visits to patients in Monterey and San Benito Counties, and the southern parts of Santa Clara and Santa Cruz Counties.

VNA’s home care and hospice offices are located in Hollister, Salinas, Monterey, and King City.  Adult day centers are open in Salinas and Monterey, and immunizations for flu, foreign travel and many other illnesses are available in VNA clinics.  The non-profit Central Coast VNA provides care to all who are in need, within available VNA resources as provided by generous gifts from the community, including over $1 million in unreimbursed care each year.  The VNA is state licensed and Medicare certified.

Steve most recently served as President of the nonprofit MedStar Health VNA, a division of the $3.2 billion healthcare organization of eight hospitals and healthcare services in the Baltimore-Washington, DC region.  He also has been President of Johns Hopkins Home Care Group, VP at UCSF Stanford Health Care, President of the Legacy VNA in Portland, where he was also responsible for the Legacy Health System’s non-acute operations, VP, home care services for Inova Health Systems.  For 14 years, Steve managed the 22-agency Upjohn Health Care Services in New York, Massachusetts, Rhode Island and Connecticut.

A native of Michigan, Steve has spent his career becoming an expert in home health turn-arounds, and is applying to Central Coast VNA many of the “best practices” he’s experienced and put in place in home health agencies across the country.
